Early access for US households

See the tax on a sale before you make it.

TaxAhead reads every investment account in your household and shows what a sale would really cost: which lots to sell, the federal tax it adds or saves, and how it compares with not selling at all.

Free to join. We’ll only email you about access to TaxAhead.

Planning a $40,000 sale across three household accounts. Illustrative example; the figures are not from a real account.

From accounts to a decision in three steps

  1. Connect every account

Link your brokerages through Plaid with read-only access. TaxAhead sees positions, cost basis and history for every account in the household: taxable and retirement, yours and your partner’s.

  2. Plan the sale

Enter the cash you need or the position you want to trim. Choose the lots yourself, or compare your choice with an alternative.

  3. Compare, then decide

See your plan, an alternative and not selling side by side, each with its federal tax impact. Save the plan and share the record with your CPA.

Exact where it counts. Honest where it can’t be.

Every lot, every account

Cost basis and holding period for each lot, across the whole household, so the answer isn’t limited to the account you happen to be looking at.

Wash sales across accounts

A loss sale is checked against recent purchases in every household account, including IRAs and 401(k)s, where wash sales are easy to miss.

No sale is always an option

Every plan is compared with doing nothing, so you can see what selling gets you and what it costs.

Nothing unknown becomes zero

When a cost basis, a price or a tax fact is missing, TaxAhead names it and asks for it instead of filling in a guess.

Read-only

Connecting an account doesn’t let TaxAhead trade or move money.

Clear about its limits

Estimates follow the 2026 federal rules for the situations TaxAhead supports, and say so when yours is outside them.

Not tax advice

TaxAhead gives planning estimates. Your tax professional makes the final call, with a clear record to check.

Questions

Who is TaxAhead for?

US households with investments in more than one account who are thinking about selling, whether to raise cash, rebalance or reduce a large position, and want to know the tax first.

Is this tax advice?

No. TaxAhead gives planning estimates based on your accounts and the facts you enter, and it tells you what it can’t estimate. For filing decisions, talk to your tax professional. TaxAhead is built to make that conversation shorter.

Can TaxAhead trade in my accounts?

No. Connections are read-only. TaxAhead can’t place trades or move money.

Which brokerages will work?

TaxAhead connects through Plaid, which supports many US brokerages. We’ll confirm coverage for your accounts before you start.

When can I start?

We’re inviting a small group of households first, in the order they joined. You’ll get an email when your invite is ready.

What do you do with my email?

We use it only to contact you about access to TaxAhead. We don’t sell or share it. Read the privacy notice.
